The Sacred Springs of Spa
At the foot of the Ardennes lies the town of Spa, where nature itself seems to heal. For centuries the local people knew of the wondrous waters, but it was a Roman soldier who would reveal their secret to the world.
1 Chapter 1: The Lost Soldier
Marcus, a Roman legionary, was wounded in battle against Germanic tribes. Exhausted and feverish, he fled into the forest seeking shelter beneath the trees. After days of wandering lost, he found a small spring steaming warmly from the earth. In desperation, he submerged his weary body in it. The warmth seemed to heal his wounds and cool his fever.
2 Chapter 2: Words Spread
Marcus returned to his regiment, healed and strong. His fellow soldiers were astonished. When he told of the magical spring, many laughed at him. Yet some listened in awe. Slowly the story spread through the Roman empire, and more and more soldiers sought out the wondrous waters.
3 Chapter 3: The Legacy
Centuries pass and Spa grows into a famous spa town. Noble families, kings and common folk flocked to the springs seeking healing. The secret Marcus had discovered was now the pride of the entire region. The waters of Spa are considered to this day the most precious gift of nature.

The waters of Spa became famous as early as the 14th century. The word "spa" means "fountain" in Walloon. Kings and queens visited Spa to be healed of their ailments.
