Our Lord and the Three Persons

Our Lord met a priest on His walk. The priest greeted kindly: “Good day!” Our Lord replied generously: “That you shall have!” From that moment on, the priests indeed had many good days. The priests enjoyed their life in the monastery and were blessed with joy and prosperity.

Shortly after, Our Lord met a farmer along the way. This man also greeted kindly: “Good day!” Our Lord replied: “The good days I have all given away.” The farmer, not discouraged, answered with wisdom: “Patience!” Whereupon Our Lord said: “That you shall have!” And indeed, farmers have since needed much patience in caring for their crops, for patience is the greatest gift of the husbandman.

After that, Our Lord met a woman who also greeted: “Good day!” The woman heard His reply: “I have given all of those away.” Quick of mind, the woman asked: “Patience?” Whereupon Our Lord said: “I have given that away too.” But the woman laughed and said: “You can always speak like that!” Our Lord was struck by her words and replied: “That you shall have!” Therefore, women have since received the gift of being able to speak so well and continuously.
