The Witch’s Feather Crown
A four-month-old baby sleeping in a basket cried constantly. The priest who came to see the child asked the parents for scissors to cut open the pillow. Inside the pillow that lay in the basket was a crown of feathers that pressed with their points against the baby’s head.
1 The Hidden Curse
Fortunately, there was still an opening in the crown. If the crown had been completely closed, the baby would have soon died. The parents had to make a large fire the next day and gather some items. After the priest arrived at the house, the crown was thrown into the fire. In an instant, the witch appeared at the fire.
2 The Witch Revealed
Several strong men had great difficulty keeping the witch away from the fire. When the crown was completely burned, the parents could recognize the witch. However, she begged: "I am the person who caused you harm. But I ask for your forgiveness. I was forced to do this by the veterinarian to whom I sold my soul".
